Let’s get straight to the point. John McCain is the GOP Presidential nominee. Of course, many republicans are bent out of shape because they feel the mainstream media is treating him unfairly. Just take the story run in the NY Times that accuses him of acting inappropriately with a young female lobbyist. Let’s forget that the story was almost devoid of reliable sources or that the indiscretions of high powered men on the left of the aisle are conveniently ignored or some how justified. That aside, what on earth did you expect?
It might help to take a look how this all came about. Am I crazy or for months on end did the national polls reflect republicans favoring more conservative candidates? It was Rudy first. Although he is not nearly a true conservative he makes John McCain look like Nancy Pelosi. Then good old Fred stirred it up. Of course he wasn’t fancy and he was way too much of a straight shooter for an American public to stick with. Then it was Mitt. He rose up the polls with the help of a push from conservative pundits just around the same time the company he is associated with, Bain Capital, had dealings with Clear Channel Communications. You may know Clear Channel from many of the nationally broadcast radio shows they own. Well, a well known “great American” became a huge cheerleader right around that time. There is probably no connection, but it certainly was a strange coincidence. Of course, then there was Mike Huckabee.
Mean while, there was a conservative who provided nothing but solutions based on the constitution, accurate historical facts, an impeccable voting record and strength to present ideas that defied conventional wisdom and propaganda. He was ridiculed. The average party lne republican decided to mindlessly take the word of the media who pre-determined the front runners. Hey, sounds like a good idea, doesn’t it? Besides, it’s fun to ridicule people when the group you identify yourself with is doing it. That’s awfully empowering stuff.
Why not blindly go along with the systematic silencing of candidates in the election of America’s President?
Who wants to hear from someone the media doesn’t hand pick? Why do your homework? Why look into an intelligent independent thinker who values the freedoms and rights of tax paying citizens above all else? Why learn about a man who in almost every way reflects the men who founded the country?
Regardless of how you think or who you support, the silencing and general mainstream media treatment toward Ron Paul (and others) was an abomination. If you drew conclusions about him without doing your homework you should think twice about your priorities and how they relate to your country.
The point is that the people were willing to compromise what integrity may be left of our election system so that they could crack wise about a guy they didn’t even bother to learn about. Because of people like that the election process suffers and the established political system which everyone often complains is further empowered. Despite the folly of the American people Ron Paul finished in the top three in many states and finished in second twice. FOX News barely uttered a mention of it while it was happening and it was completely unmentioned in the following days news. How many “front runners” were completely ignored even when they placed last? Sorry Mr. Paul.
Then out of the blue came John McCain, the champion of amnesty. Right on time the media props him up after a victory in liberal New Hampshire. This was a victory where I believe voters didn’t need to be republican to vote. That’s logical. So, the mainstream media who has been documented to be 90 percent liberal says that left wing GOP candidate McCain is the guy. He’s the only guy who could beat the dreaded Hillary Rodham Clinton in the general election they claimed. Here’s when the GOP spines went limp. Conservatism be damned. The left wing media says Johnny is the only hope. So much like blind followers of Mr. Obama, republican voters backed Mr. McCain.
I guess the spot-on timing of the mainstream media putting their weight behind McCain seemed like a coincidence to most GOPers. Could it be that it was just propaganda to eliminate everyone but McCain? Of course it was. All the while, they were propping him up just to be knocked down. How did it all work? They were counting on the spineless (and thoughtless) knee jerk GOP herd to act emotionally to whatever fears they could inject. Hook, line and sinker, folks.
So as the media who once showered John McCain with praise begins to change its tone and turns its barrels on him remember who is to blame…spineless republicans. So what you are left with is a choice between two socialists running on the democrat ticket and a so-called republican who will do the bidding of the socialist democrats and illegal immigrants. How is that good for the country?
The strength of the republicans has always been conservatism that reflected the values of the everyday American citizen. However, it is up to everyday American citizens to demand the leadership it deserves. We need to hold our elected representatives to a higher standard. We need to exercise reason and act with strength. If we don’t how can we expect the same from our public servants in DC. It’s very tough to stand tall when you have lost your back bone.
