When a crazy person snaps and starts killing, does the underlying reason really matter? Have we become so desensitized to these mass killings that we need to blame “race” or “religion” or “politics” to somehow process the tragedy, so we can all feel somewhat comforted and say, “Oh, *that’s* the reason”?
What is wrong with our society that we take these killings in stride, shake our heads, and move on?
Are these kind of killings just “a fact of life”?
Do they have to be?
